BECAUSE HE ASKS US
And the King will say to them...
whatever you did for the least of My brothers, you did for me.
Doing for the least of our brothers and sisters is the core of the commitment of the Charity and Justice Team at St. Mary Magdalen. We are involved in projects that present our friends and families opportunities to participate in organized activities that bring resources and hope to those who most need our help. We also focus on bringing about a more just society by striving to change the policies and structures that prevent people from living dignified lives and reach their God-given potential. We put a human face on the teachings of our church so that our parish family not only listens to God’s word but can find the means to truly live it.
Our Charity and Justice Team works with other organizations and congregations so that we can extend and maximize our combined efforts. We are actively involved in outreach programs that provide information, mentoring and leadership throughout our local communities. By joining us you will help to meet our goal of broadening our participation and provide support to the many who rely on our help.
The Charity and Justice Ministry Team plans and coordinates our parish's effort to reach out to those in need by providing assistance. Over the year they bring food to the needy, collect gifts at holiday time and collect clothes for those in need. They also are charged with the task of working to help the needy help themselves. This Ministry Team has about 10 meetings a year (on the second Tuesday of the month). Members who volunteer for this ministry make a commitment for one year.
CHARITY
Involves providing immediate help (the Corporal Works of Mercy) to those in need
JUSTICE
Promotes structural change to address the causes underlying need and is based on the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Our ministry informs through handouts found at the C&J table in our church’s gathering area, information on the Parish website and social media. We seek to provide a clear message of deeper understanding of these Church teachings so individuals can advocate for change in their daily lives. When a teaching so motivates individuals, we help organize events for group participation. These “calls for action” should be brought to our C&J monthly meetings for discussion and advocacy.
This team is responsible for ensuring that parishioners are kept informed of parish events through a variety of digital and print means. This team also discusses how to make sure that our parish's online presence is welcoming to potential visitors and that there are easy ways for those who are not already a part of our community to get involved.
This ministry team is responsible for planning and hosting social events and parties in our parish.
This team is committed to enhancing the social and communal life of the parish through an assortment of social and fun gatherings throughout the year. Some activities are for adults and some include the whole parish family. These include: FunFest, Wine tasting, Halloween Party, Euchre, Oktoberfest, Easter Egg Scramble, Breakfast with Santa and more!
We are looking for people who enjoy having a good time and like to create an atmosphere of fun for others. While we plan events, we also enlist people to help set-up, execute and clean-up too. This team meets monthly. Those who join this ministry are asked to make a one year commitment.

"God nurtures this vision through individual and communal prayer. In prayer we abide in God, freely opening ourselves to listen and respond to our Lord's gracious will. The Eucharist is our fullest prayer in which Christ's faithful love makes us one. By the Eucharist, the power of Christ's sacrificial love transforms us into His real presence in the world. We celebrate this joyous belief with uplifting liturgies that transform our daily lives."
--From the Vision Statement of St. Mary Magdalen Parish
Bringing together the Liturgical Ministries, Pastoral Musicians and members of the Art and Environment team, the Worship Ministry Team plans and coordinates the Liturgical celebrations of the parish. The Ministry Team has about 10 meetings a year (on the first Wednesday of the month) and does additional work in between the meetings. Members who volunteer for this ministry are asked to make a commitment for one year.
THE WORSHIP MINISTRY TEAM: OUR VISION
Bringing together musicians, members of the Art & Environment team and the liturgical ministries, we plan and coordinate the liturgies, feasts, and seasons of the church year. We seek prayerful, reflective, uplifting liturgies that transform our daily lives. We invite all people to a full, conscious and active participation in the Liturgy and strive to strengthen and support all Ministers of Liturgy through training, education and spirituality.
We also seek to enrich the assembly's understanding of Liturgy; of prayer, ritual, origin, purpose and beliefs. We strive to maintain our gracious customs and traditiions.
In bringing the honored of times past into the life of the Church today, we seek to provide for all people, at different levels of their faith, a variety of opportunities for prayer and reflection, inspiration and renewal. Through all the elements of Liturgy, our vision is to create a vision of noble simplicity; a haven of peace and joy, where all people may minister to and sustain one another as one Body in Christ.

The St. Mary Magdalen Youth Ministry Council is a group of parishioners who meet quarterly to discuss how to ensure that our parish is radically welcoming to the youth of our community. Rather than being tied to any one program, this council and its members look at the question of youth ministry from a big picture perspective.
