The St. Mary Magdalen Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is starting operations in January 2024.
** If you are in need of rent or utility assistance, or are in a homeless situation, please call 810.202.2243 for assistance.**
St. Vincent dePaul volunteers live out our parish mission by offering their gift of time to serve those in need in our community.
St. Vincent dePaul (SVDP) offers financial assistance to those in need, specifically in the areas of rent/housing and utilities.
The SVDP members meet on a regular basis to pray for the ministry and formulate ways to more effectively and lovingly serve those that come to them in need.
The group works in teams of two, with each group taking an "on call" week in rotation. The team accepts calls and works with clients to help them in their time of need.
FOR THOSE IN NEED: Simply call (810) 202-2243 and leave a message. An SVDP representative will return your call.
TO VOLUNTEER: Please call the parish office, and we will connect you with a team member who will provide more information about this important ministry.
TO DONATE: Use this link for an online donation or make a check payable to "SVDP St. Mary Magdalen Brighton Conference" and put it in the Alms box or the collection basket during Mass.

Caretel Ministry
Our Caretel Ministry is a Eucharistic Ministry serving Caretel Inns Assisted Living and Senior Care facility in Brighton, across from Planet Fitness on Grand River.
Our ministry conducts a group Rosary and Communion service for the Catholic residents every Sunday throughout the year, beginning at 10:30 AM. We also make short room visits for those unable to attend the group session. Typically, the committed time is 1.5 to 2 hours.
The Caretel team provides a scripted service guide for leading the Rosary and Communion service for ‘group’ and ‘room visits’.
The Sunday service coverage is coordinated using a team calendar and you simply sign up for whichever Sunday fits into your schedule. There is no commitment other than what you sign up for and if all you can provide is one Sunday per year, we are happy to have you join us. We will meet to show you the service guide book, answer any questions, and then invite you to shadow one of us during a Sunday service. When you feel comfortable you simply sign up and serve. This is a great opportunity to involve your spouse, friend, son or daughter in the Sunday service at Caretel.

St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center
THE N.E.W. LIFE CENTER IS A FAITH-BASED ENVIRONMENT PROVIDING LIFE SKILLS, EDUCATION AND WORKPLACE TRAINING, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND MEN TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT.
We provide a safe environment for survivors of abuse and poverty. We give these individuals the access to learn and further their education with the help of our tutoring volunteers, along with teaching basic life skills to those who need it, encouraging them along the way and building their self-esteem, so that one day they become independent.
Center for Hope
In a city that helped build America, hope is often in short supply. Jobs are scarce – violence, illiteracy, and crime are prevalent. Young people are being raised in an environment of poverty and despair. Anxiety, joblessness and poverty – all contributors to depression and domestic violence – are destroying families. Clearly, help is needed. For many, the Center for Hope is the beginning of a new path to recovery, offering access to counseling and mental health services, substance use treatment and recovery, housing assistance and referrals for food and furniture. The Center for Hope offers just that - hope for each new day that comes.
October 2022 update:
The shelves are looking pretty empty in the Center for Hope personal needs room. We are in need of dish soap, laundry soap, deodorant, and shampoo. And we always need toddler-sized clothes.
To give you an idea of why the shelves look like this, here are some numbers:
In January we served 469 individuals and 227 families. This past August those numbers were 1,487 individuals and 589 families. Working people are struggling!
