The St. Mary Magdalen Marriage Ministry is a team of parishioners who are dedicated to supporting strong and loving marriages and families. We do this through planning and organizing programs relevant to marriage, preparing informational materials, and by sponsoring and promoting events that relate to marriage. We also support programs and outreach to provide healing and hope to those who are divorced or separated. This ministry is only one year old—so there is tremendous opportunity to shape and build this ministry in the coming year!

The Marriage Ministry meets on Thursday evenings at 7pm at the Church. We welcome all who are interested in strengthening marriage to this ministry, and certainly, participation in the ministry as a couple is encouraged (although not required).

Marriage Enrichment Experiences

Many couples find that attending a marriage enrichment experience is a wonderful way to revitalize and strengthen their marriage. Which enrichment opportunity is right for your marriage? Here's a brief explanation of who will benefit from each program:

Date Night—Livingston Young Adult Ministry: For younger married couples, this is a monthly opportunity to share a meal with other young Catholic couples and discuss topics related to marriage and parenting. Childcare will be provided with prior arrangement. Contact Deacon Devon for more details.

Living In Love: This revolutionary weekend provides liberating insights, affirming exercises, and practical strategies which have proven to be life-changing. It gives insight into how differently men and women desire intimacy and helps couples draw close to each other and fuel their romance. Living in Love is based on the practical application of Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. You only share with your spouse and the common sense approach is refreshingly “male” friendly – it is popular with husbands, to the delight of their wives. Currently offered at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth.

Marriage Encounter:
Looking for the perfect weekend? A weekend to bring a husband and wife closer together? A WWME weekend is exactly what you are looking for. At a Worldwide Marriage Encounter, the original and continually updated marriage enrichment program, you get away from the distractions of everyday life and focus on each other. Instead of simply listening to lectures about how to improve your marriage, you will actually be improving your marriage. www.wwme.org

Marriage Enrichment Conference: Next conference will be on Saturday February 6, 2016 with featured speaker Dr. Ray Guarendi and liturgy with Bishop Earl Boyeawww.idoforlife.org

Retrouvaille:  Retrouvaille (pronounced re-tro-vi with a long i) is a French world meaning rediscovery. The program offers tools needed to rediscover a loving marriage relationship. It is for couples with marital problems including those who are considering marriage separation and those who are already separated or divorced that want marriage help.

Second Half Weekend Workshop: Major changes in a marriage can take place anywhere between the ages of 40-70. If you are in or near the empty nest- or if your nest has refilled, this seminar is just for you. You'll learn you're not alone, and the second half of your marriage can be a time of incredible fulfillment, not matter what challenges you previously faced or what lies ahead. www.marriagemattersjackson.org

We Care 2:
The We Care 2 program is designed for married couples who would like to enhance their marriage by improving their communication skills.  It is offered through Livingston County Catholic Charities.  This is a condensed version of the We Care program all engaged couples getting married in a Catholic church in the Lansing diocese are required to take.
